Can Your House Feed A Charger?
Most Richmond homes can — after a load calculation says so. We're the metro's answer to that question: math first, mounting second.
Three Ways To Charge
Level 2 Home Charger
- 25–40 miles of range per hour
- Works with every EV brand (J1772 / NACS)
- Dedicated circuit, permitted and inspected
- Garage or exterior-rated mounting
Tesla Wall Connector
- Up to 44 miles of range per hour
- Power-sharing for two-Tesla households
- Wi-Fi firmware and scheduling setup included
- Clean cable management, no exposed conduit runs
Workplace & Retail Stations
- Networked stations with billing support
- Load management across multiple bays
- Utility incentive paperwork handled
- ADA-compliant layout planning
Your Panel Decides, Not The Brochure
A Level 2 charger is one of the largest loads in a home. Here's roughly what panels handle — we confirm with a real load calculation before quoting.
| Your panel | Typical verdict | What we usually do |
|---|---|---|
| 200A modern | Ready in most homes | Dedicated 50A circuit, charger mounted — often one visit |
| 150A | Usually workable | Load calc; sometimes a load-management device instead of an upgrade |
| 100A | Tight with heat pump / electric range | Panel upgrade to 200A, then the charger — quoted together upfront |
| Fuse box / 60A | Not safely | Full service upgrade first. We'll show you the math and phase the work |
Charger On The Wall In Three Steps
Load calculation
Photos of your panel plus a short call. We compute actual capacity — no site-visit fee to find out.
Written quote
Charger, circuit, permit, inspection — one number. If a panel upgrade is needed, it's in the same quote, not a surprise later.
Install & inspect
Most installs finish in half a day. County inspection passed, app connected, and you charge that night.
Asked At Every Kitchen Table
Do I really need a permit for a charger?
In Virginia, yes — it's a new dedicated circuit. We pull the permit and meet the inspector; homes with unpermitted chargers routinely hit insurance and resale problems.
Can't I just plug into a dryer outlet?
Splitter kits exist, but most violate code and some void EV warranties. A dedicated circuit costs less than people expect and charges faster, safely.
What does an install typically cost?
Straightforward garage installs on a ready panel land in a predictable range; long runs or panel upgrades add to it. You'll have the exact number in writing before we start — that's the whole point of the load calc.
